"...this oustanding book.'"(Argus) "...the has to be the city's definitive visual guide."(Source) North Laine Photography were a very typical example of Brighton’s ‘give it a go’ mentality. ­Starting life on street pitches they then ran a very popular gallery above the quirky ­‘Snoopers Paradise’ in Kensington Gardens for seven and a half years. Even more popular were their Brighton and Hove Calendars. These calendars featured all the landmarks you’d expect, but had that something ‘extra’ as well. Both in the unique ­design and the quality of the photography. But also within the emphasis of making a collection of images that the city’s population related to as “somehow capturing the reason why l live here”. This book contains photographs from 12 years of those calendars, plus a section in the middle on the competitions they ran to try and find different perspectives on the city that is their home.
