William Eggleston, the photographer, was born in 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee. He is widely credited with increasing recognition for colour photography as a legitimate artistic medium to display in art galleries. This book was produced on the occasion of the exhibition of Eggleston's work at the Barbican Art Gallery in London in 1992. There is an introduction by Mark Holborn followed by countless wonderful photos which are interspersed with Eggleston's own thoughts on why he decided to take particular photos from certain angles.
